Jay Mulaney, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist practicing in Lakeland, Florida. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Polk County Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology and Florida Society of Ophthalmology. Besides having written a chapter in an ophthalmology textbook, he is the author of numerous articles and papers published in medical and scientific journals. After completing a medical internship in Chicago, Dr. Mulaney did his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. This was followed by a fellowship in Glaucoma at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami. He has been Clinical Asst. Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida in Tampa from 1991 to 2006 and has given lectures and instructed new physicians. Specializing in eye surgery, Dr. Mulaney has performed thousands of small incision cataract surgeries with lens implants, providing his patients with improved vision and a new sense of freedom. In 1999 and in 2000, he was chosen to the " Best Doctors in America." In 2002, he was named to the outstanding physicians in Florida and in 2003 and 2004-2005 was selected to America's Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer's Research Council of America. In 2006 and in 2007, Dr. Mulaney was listed among the top Ophthalmologists in the US.. Florida Super Doctors 2009 ranked him among the top in ophthalmology in the Tampa Tribune. Dr. Mulaney is on the hospital staff at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center. He was the President of the Medical Staff at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in 2003-2004 and President of the Polk County Medical Association in 2005. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, the Central Florida Physicians Alliance and VISTE (Volunteers In Service to The Elderly). In 2006, Dr. Mulaney was President of We Care of Polk County, a physician led charitable organization delivering free health care to the underserved. In 2008, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Dr. Mulaney has been in practice in Lakeland for twenty years and is the President of Central Florida Eye Associates. He lives in Lakeland with his wife and two daughters. |
